Also check out some JOY Music MP3 files - these songwriters are also tentatively on the NOV calendar for UCA:

And here is a link to the sweet and low-key introverted sounds of IOperry (she quotes Elliot Smith as an influence and I clicked into her site from Holly Williams site - see below):

Heh, I have only recently discoverd how much I like Holly Williams - the grand daughter of Hank Williams (who ALSO quotes Elliot Smith as an influence):

Anyhow, there is more - more to say, more to write about, CD's that artists have been giving me that I want to review - and I am trying to find the time to get it all into words and links and thoughts.

A West Side Starbucks Open Mic?? Could it be ... real?

Ok, the guys and gals at the trendy-ish Starbucks in Rocky River tell me they have obtained some kind of a 'live music license' (your guess is as good as mine - sounds really corporate and serious - I have no idea - but Starbucks IS into the very serious side of the Music Business after all) and they are now hosting an Open Mic - whaddaya know bout that!

OPEN MIC AT STARBUCKS ROCKY RIVER
19555 Detroit Rd.
Rocky River Ohio
44112

Oh, and hey, if you take any cool OPEN MIC photos with your camera cell phone you can send em to me at my cell phone number (catch me around for my number I dont wanna post it here) and I might post them.

"The music I play is very close to me. I write stories and put music to them. I rarely have an outcome in mind when I begin writing; I just let the characters in the songs dictate the direction. Sometimes they are stories with happy endings, other times they are a more difficult outcome for the characters. That is the essence of folk music, story telling."
